The Bank of Edison was chartered in 1904 and has continued to serve southwest Georgia, despite the challenges over the years. At one time there were 14,000 community banks in the US. Today, there are just over 4,000 left. Consolidation has driven most of those banks, that were originally established to serve their local communities, into the hands of people who are insulated from the populations they serve.
This trend has not only hurt the banking industry as a whole but has also helped erode the fabric of community throughout the US.
We are unique. We are still locally owned and operated, and we still care about the people around us. We have an old-fashioned approach to customer service and modern approach to embracing technology. We value our customers – no matter who they are, and we want to make it easy for them to bank with us. We make loan decisions in house and not in some central office far removed from our customers. We still answer the telephone and won’t force you to go through an automated attendant. After 120 years of banking, we still believe in personal customer service.
Some things are simply not meant to change.
